Recently I worked with the marketing team at CAM software leader DP Technology to re-engineer their brochure from the ground up, updating it in time for the worldwide launch of their new software.

We started with a company-wide branding and positioning exercise, using the input to develop a look and feel for the piece which will carry over into their other collateral. The goal, according to Chuck Mathews, DP's VP of Marketing, was to position DP Technology as a premium brand in the CAM world, in his words, "the BMW of CAM software."


Their existing collateral copy was confusing, muddy, and repetitive -- really only useful as a starting point for my copy research. I immersed myself in the complicated technology and passed drafts back and forth to technical specialists in order to write the clear, focused copy needed to pull off the piece DP Technology envisioned.


This brochure is an excellent sample of my writing, as I wrote the initial draft and all copy flowed through me as we developed subsequent versions. The final copy is clear, focused, and thorough, and blissfully free of errors in syntax, grammar, or punctuation. The sales people report it has been an effective tool in landing their 10K-plus sales deals. The version attached below is the concept brochure, with most of the copy in place, but awaiting photos from a plannned photo shoot.
